SURGERY

Typically performed on an outpatient basis, liposuction can last between 30 minutes to four hours, depending on the amount of fat removed and number of areas treated. The most common techniques include tumescent and ultrasound assisted liposuction. In both methods, a tiny incision is made in the most unnoticeable possible. In UAL, suction-assisted lipectomy, ultrasonic energy is used to liquefy the fat before it is suctioned out with a cannula. The procedure requires either local anaesthesia with sedation or epidural anaesthesia, again depending on the size of the area(s) being treated as well as several other factors.

POST SURGERY

A support garment is typically recommended to limit swelling and bruising during 30 days. Discomfort is controlled by medication and you may return to work within a few days. While bruising resolves in 2 to 3 weeks, swelling may persist for 6 weeks or longer.
